Reports from the Front
British Empire, Summer 1914
Persia. A colonial army, consisting of 5 Infantry divisions and 2 Artillery divisions invaded Persia, both to open a land route to the Ottomans and to preempt the sympathies of the Persian government. The fighting was a vicious and bloody affair. When the smoke had cleared, our flag flew over Tehran, but at the cost of 3 divisions of Infantry.
Arabia. Buoyed by our success in Persia and with the landing of Sir Lawrence at the head of an Infantry division, the Arabian Sheikhs have joined our cause, adding their 2 divisions, one of Artillery, to our cause.
Trans-Jordan. Our Egyptian Army, consisting of 5 Infantry divisions and 2 Artillery divisions crossed the Suez to invade Trans-Jordan and bring the fight directly to the Ottomans. The Turks used their knowledge of the terrain to their advantage, destroying 2 divisions of Infantry while losing an Infantry division and an Artillery division of their own.
Angola. 2 divisions of Infantry, supported by a division of Artillery attacked the German forces in Angola. Our forces were outmaneuvered though, with only a single Infantry division surviving to dig in, though not without destroying the German Artillery division.
Belgian Congo. 2 divisions of Infantry attacked the German division in the Belgian Congo, but the terrain hampered combat, keeping losses light. Our forces have dug in.
Mediterranean Sea. Our Mediterranean and Indian Ocean fleets consolidated just south of the Suez, giving us the most powerful naval force in the area.
Yorkshire. With the German navy controlling the North Sea, we shored up our defenses of the Yorkshire coast with 5 divisions from Wales.
Bombay. A large force of colonial troops mustered in Bombay, including 2 divisions of Infantry, 3 divisions of Artillery, and a wing of Fighter aircraft.
London. A wing of Fighter aircraft mustered in London and 32 million Swiss Francs have been added to our treasury.
